You’re much stronger than you think you are

Trust me on this one. If you’re reading this, you’ve most likely survived 2020. It was a huge slap in the face. Yet, here we are. Tap your shoulders, pour yourself a drink, put those feet up and just think of all the things you’ve dragged your body and soul through this year. My dear, you are f.cking awesome. That’s what you are.

So let’s take a look under those shirts. Although I don’t have X-ray vision (yet), I see a whole lot of superheroes out there. And you’re all so beautiful. How about we make 2021 all about our superpowers? Take a look inside yourself and think about all your strengths. Now take those strengths and look at them in detail. Find creative ways to use them. The more ways you find, the more they will grow. They will act as a shield and make your weaknesses seem a lot smaller. But in order for that to happen, you need to identify them and use them. Every single day in the new year.

Don’t wait for somebody to save you - unless it’s a much needed healthcare worker, who is obviously a superhero by profession - but be your own hero and save yourself. Nobody will know you better than you know yourself. You are the one making your decisions, you take the risks and suffer or enjoy the consequences. In any case, you learn - and with learning, you evolve and grow.

Success goes hand in hand with risks, fear and failure. But we can face those easily with all the superpowers we hold. Just remember them. And remind yourself every morning, that you have them. Success comes in many forms. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t strike solid gold in 2021. If it means surviving for now, with whatever is left, then I wish you strength to survive. Whatever you do, you cannot give up.

Finally, I want you to think of something that will act as a cape. Something you will wear or take with you every day in 2021. It can be anything. Something small. Slip it in your wallet or pocket before you leave the house. You can get yourself a special piece of jewellery and wear it. Or just say a few magic words to your reflection while you get ready to kick some ass.

Wishing you all a great new year full of hidden strengths you will find along the way. See you in 2021 with more words.

With love,

Melinda
